Positive: Colonial Inn is a great option if you want to be right in the heart of downtown Hillsborough. The location is the real win. You can walk everywhere - shops, a couple of bars, restaurants - and Hillsborough has a genuinely warm small-town vibe. The on-site restaurant/bar at the Inn is small but exceeded expectations: I grabbed a bar seat, the bartender was excellent, and the cocktail was spot-on and refreshingly inexpensive (especially if you’re used to DC prices). The room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything functioned as expected.

Negative: Nothing truly off putting! The bathroom could use an update, the walls are a bit thin, and the shower water pressure was underwhelming. This is not a luxe property, and while I wasn’t expecting that, I did snag a nice deal that convinced me to book the one-night stay. I don’t know that I’d pay much more than I did with the deal.

Summary: Great stay! Centrally located and charming.
